Trials of the Heart It was before then when our song played
We sang in harmony
Hitting every note in perfect unison
It seemed as if nothing would rain us out
Nothing would drown us together
But for some time, the storm was coming
An unforeseen event that crippled us
It didn’t stop us though, nothing did
Our love prospered and waved to the future
Greeting it with smiles and joy
Our path we followed together
The story that’s in our book
A journey that was full of love and laughter
Can never be taken before time
Only placed in it
And it was then; we had planned to spend eternity together
The rest of our lives, living as one
Our hearts were aligned
Our hopes and dreams were coming alive
But then the storm came
Bringing unfathomable power of destruction
Destroying our temple, cracking its foundation
The cause of waves rising high into the sky
Coming down with great vengeance
Leaving no one to survive
I arose from the wreck of our temple
Only to find you not here
The tears of the sun rained down upon me
I looked into the distance
Only doing what I could do
Looking deep into the shadows
You came through the darkness
My heart lit back up, the flame was re-ignited
But something was different
Thoughts of deception running through your head
Like cars on a race track
A fear that you feared most
Was inching towards your very soul
Afraid and desperate, you sought to find a solution
To keep our flame lit
You fought a war that was never to be fought with
And in the end, our world disappeared
You sought to create a life
I sought to end it for our own survival
We battled our hearts into a void
The sparks and lightning clashing everywhere
The wind blowing furiously all around us
A raging storm cast over us
Much like the rage in my heart
Striking you down, holding the blade of my sword to your neck
You confess your words of creating a life weren’t real
But instead, the one thing you feared, the one thing you should have never feared
Drove you to this
Senseless drivel coming from your mouth
Words that hold no meaning or truth to me
Ran through my transparent figure
Having no effect, having my heart grow cold, I turned and walked away
Sitting in despair
I wonder how this could have come about
How this could be done
The battles we’ve fought together, side by side
Mean nothing now
Everything we built in our world
All gone now
All the stories we wrote together
Are locked up now
I ran to get away from this
I ran alone, never looking back
My heart broken into un-recognizable shards
The pieces too many to mend back together
Fate has twisted us to this place
I look deep inside my heart to seek the answers
Only to find, that the connection is still there
A connection I never saw before
Something dwelled inside of me
I scream out, “RETURN TO ME!!!”
But nothing will make you come back
The life of another has taken your heart
But the damage so great between us
It is irreparable
My hate runs too deep to find
It lurks in the deepest depths of my soul
A hate so vengeful, I cannot contain it
But this hate, created a new feeling
This unnamed feeling…
I cannot explain it
A feeling that froze my body and thoughts into time
But the one thing I knew I wanted
I wanted to end it all together
Those who preach for eternity
Die in eternity
