The Chase

the day chases the light into the dark

where it shatters against the night

filling the heavens with glimmering bits

like diamonds cast to a black sandy beach

too precious to touch, too beautiful to hold

remnants of the day meld with magics wonder

as we search them in wishes, for dreams promise

or to bathe in their dust, for loves conception

and in the race never won, as night chases day

we are reborn once more into lights redemption

where souls rejoice, and life again searches its meaning
