Quotations from the movie:

What is the matrix?

The matrix is everywhere. It is all around us, even now in the very room you're sitting. You can see it when you look out of your window or when you turn on your TV. You can feel it when you go to work, when you go to pray or when you pay your taxes.
It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth. The truth that you are a slave. Like everyone else, you are born into a bandage, born into a prison that you cannot smell, taste or touch. A prison for your mind.

The matrix is control. The matrix is a generated dream world built to keep us under control in order to change the human being into a machine. As long as the matrix exists, the human race will never be free.

Unfortunately, noone can be told what the matrix is, you have to see it for yourself. The matrix cannot tell you who you are.
The matrix isn't real. Billions of people have been living their lives in an inadvertence.

Those in the matrix:

The matrix is a system and that system is an enemy. When you are inside, you look around, what do you see? Businessmen, teachers, lawyers, carpenters... the very minds of the people we're trying to save but until we do, these people are still a part of that system and that makes them our enemy.

You have to understand many of those people are not ready to be unplugged and many of them are so hopelessly dependant on their system that they'll fight to protect it.
If you're not one of us, you're one of them. Anyone we haven't unplugged is potentially an agent.

Inside the matrix, they are everyone and they are noone. We've survived by hiding from them, by running from them but they are the gate keepers. They are gaurding all doors. They are holding all the keys which means that sooner or later somone is going to fight them.
YOU will succeed; their strength and their speed is still based on a world that's built on rules... because of that, they will never be as strong or as fast as you can be.

To get out of the matrix:
You have to let it all go, my friend: fear, doubt, disbelief.... FREE YOUR MIND..
There is a difference between knowing the path and walking the path.
Do not try to bend the spoon, that is impossible; instead only try to realize the truth.. that there is no spoon. Then you will see that it is not the spoon that bends; it is only yourself.

A message to those in the matrix:

"I know you're out there. I can feel you now. I know that you're afraid.. you're afraid of us.. afraid of change. I don't know the future. I didn't come here to tell you how this is going to end. I am here to tel you how this is going to begin. I'm gonna hang up this phone and I'm going to show those people what they didn't want to see. I'm going to show them a world without you. A world without rules and controls.. without borders or boundaries. A world where everything is possible; where we go from there is a choice I leave it to YOU."

Below is a very interesting analysis of the philosophy of the movie by a friend of mine "Al Alkhodary" from Montreal, Canada (abs22@hotmail.com):

I would define matrix as trances, mental limitations we create and live along the journey, sort of self poisoning.
By the 7th time, I think I got all the crystal clear messages a semi functional human mind can figure out. However, its not really obvious either because the viewer has to keep swapping roles between Neo and Morpheus.

Remember when Morpheus kept telling Neo to free his mind and liberate it? What do you think he was relating to?
That was what Morpheus told Neo to try to break Neo free of the perceive limitations that he had convinced himself were real, absolute, unbendable and just the way things are.. ?reality? as we say. And then to prove his point, Morpheus jumps what looks like a mile between two sky-scrapers effortlessly.

Well, often times in our personal lives, we?ve got to free our minds if we are ever to achieve the success we seek... and just like in the Matrix, often times things we think are limitations preventing us from achieving our goals are really self-imposed and are only limitations if we allow them to
be. As you can probably tell The Matrix is one of my all time favorite movies EVER not as a science fiction movie but as a philosophy... the powerful message about the life
we live and the realities thereof (or at least our perceptions of what we consider to be ?reality?). The movie?s brilliance is in its powerful metaphor for how to look and challenge our perceptions of what we think is reality.

?Reality is a sliding door?-- Ralph Waldo Emerson

1.. ?What is the Matrix?? ? In the beginning of the movie, Neo has this nagging feeling that there is something more out there, the Matrix... he sensed there was something more and kept wondering, ?what is the Matrix??
It was almost like some people got to play their game of reality by a different set of rules and he was missing something.

Do you ever feel that way? Like, others achieve success at speeds and ease that makes you wonder if they get to play by a different set of rules that you?re missing?  I mean, you see the success of others but for you it just doesn?t seem to come no matter what you do... others seem to have a much easier time of it than your struggle.

POINT: Don?t let where you are currently dictate what you accept for your future (unless you like the results you are currently getting).

2.. ?Do you think that?s air you?re breathing?? This is another great line from the movie.  It comes from the Kung-Fu fight scene when Morpheus and Neo are in the training computer program, fighting one another.
Morpheus just got done kicking Neo?s butt good and he asks Neo how he was able to defeat him so effortlessly... Neo responds, gasping for air from his perceived exhaustion, ?I don?t know, you are too fast.? To which Morpheus responds ?Do you think any of that has ANY bearing in HERE?? Then, after a
pause, Morpheus continues with ?Do you think that?s air you?re breathing??
And, with those words, you see the light bulb go off in Neo?s head as he immediately stops the heavy breathing...

Here?s a promise: There are things right now, just like that, in your personal, professional and entrepreneurial life that you are allowing to limit you. They therefore limit the success you experience... they are constraints you put on yourself.  And, just as Neo allowed his reality to be one where he wasn?t fast enough and was out of breath inside the computer training program (and then instantly changed it with a simple thought and decision about it), you, too, can remove the roadblock(s) to your success.

But there?s a catch (you knew there had to be a catch, right?).  Well, here it is: You will always get what you expect... so, if you never stop and ask yourself some variation of this magic question: ?There?s got to be a
solution; how can I attack this from another direction... look at it differently and make it work? What am I assuming as a limitation that I can and should challenge?? -- then it is very likely that you will never break free of your current business reality. You?ve got to have your eyes opened to new possibilities and that can only happen if you openly look for the answers. See, you won?t search for new possibilities if you constantly tell yourself that your present conditions and your perceived limitations are permanent.

Are you starting to see that almost all the constraints to your success are mental in nature and your only real boundaries are those you impose on yourself?

POINT: Where are you allowing this to happen with regard to the money you make, the success you experience?  Right now, think about the things you perceive are preventing you from achieving the success you want. What have you made up in your mind about those limitations... what?s your perception of reality right now about them?  Stop and ask yourself a variation of the magic question above so you can start the process of breaking free of these perceived limitations.

3.  ?You?re better than this!  Come on, stop trying to hit me and HIT ME? This line came from the same Kung-Fu fight scene inside the computer training program. Morpheus makes the point to Neo that he was working too hard by ?trying? to hit him and that he should just do it. This is one of those intuitive things.... sometimes you?ve got to operate a little on faith and dare to create the reality you want by taking confident, expectant action forward even when there are no guarantees of the outcome...

Like the universe was conspiring to deliver me exactly what I demanded and expected of it. And, although sometimes the simple answers weren?t apparent from my present point of view, some seemingly odd ?coincidences? appeared at the just right time because I kept expectantly looking for the answers I wanted.

POINT: Where do you focus your attention? On what you want or the reasons why you don?t have what you want?  The problem or the solution? When you focus on what you want (instead of the obstacles) you condition your mind to look for solutions... and when your mind is trained to do this, you trigger all sorts of new ideas that empower you and move you closer to your goals as a result.

It?s been said by many very successful people in different ways, but it always comes down to this basic concept: you, me, everyone... we literally become what we think about, what we focus our thoughts on... so focus your thoughts on what you want.

A word of caution... Life will deliver you EXACTLY what you expect... But you can?t fake it...

The universe knows the difference between a faked expectation or decision that YOU don?t really believe yourself and a genuine decision declared from and believed with all your heart.

There?s some good news in all this... you have total control, and you have the power right now to determine if you believe what you declare and expect of the world.

It starts and ends with you. And, that should excite you... because it means it?s within you to change any circumstance you don?t like or want in your life.

Why not have what you want expand, instead of what you fear expand?  You?re doing it anyway. So, why not attract to yourself the things you want instead of the other way around.

Remember, what you give your attention to is what you will attract into your experience (it dictates both the positive and negative people, resources, ideas, circumstances, and results you get or don?t get). So, refuse to settle for less than everything you want... it?s all possible, but you?ve got to go after it with the expectation that is possible.

If you believe it?s possible, then you?ll look for a solution and expect to find one.  And, likewise, if you don?t expect it to work, then you will look for (and find) evidence that supports that point of view... both are true because you say so.
