The Bitthersweet Justification of Passing Time

I’m convinced that everyone wants to be good for something

That we all really long to just be someone’s friend

And, to stand for something worth standing for

And, to find the treasure that’s hidden deep within

And, I’ve got dreams just like everybody else

But, those dreams I have are mine

And, I’ve got to believe that someday they will come true

In the light of my heart, and not in the darkness of my bones

For, though the cage protects that heart

A cage is no place for a heart to grow

And, I’m convinced that a cage can never be considered a home

Because, the only thing that should be around a heart and home

Is love in its purest, most uncorrupted form

And, I believe that that kind of love is the kind we’re all searching for

Whether we are aware or unaware

There is no denying the sweetness in another body’s stare

And, there is no hiding the truth of two simple words

Of how living and loving are nearly identical twins

And, how both must be comfortable in their own skin

If either is to be known

Then, one must act upon the other without pride

For, neither is better than the other when competition takes hold

Because, both must be fruitful in their own time

And, trust in the goodness of each other’s alibi

And, in that moment, I will believe

In the bittersweet justification of passing time

And, how, by it, we can look each other in each other’s eyes
