If you’re looking for a safe haven now

Well, darling, step my way

Cause, I couldn’t sleep at all last night

With your silhouette in my brain



Now, don’t get me wrong this time around

I don’t know if this is going to be love

But, if I were a betting man I’d like my odds

Of gaining the richness of your love



Once upon my younger days

I laid out my entire hand only to have it pushed away

And, I’m not saying I’m scared

But, I wouldn’t go so far as to say I’m not afraid

But, once upon my younger days

I heard my grandfather say

“If you’re given the chance to fight,

You better fight with all your strength.”

So, here I am hands up and swords drawn

Resting all my hope upon

The lessons of “once upon my younger days”



Now, I haven’t been loved by many women

And, I can’t say I’ve returned their favor

But, I’d give you the entire capacity of blood in my soul

Just to know a love I could finally savor



I think back, only to realize today is all I have

And, I’m going to learn to not let it slip away

The way so many days have before

And, I’m going to learn how to finally be brave
