Can You Hear Him now?

 Hello….

Can you hear

HIM

now?

Introduction

Communication has never been faster…never more accessible. Never

so diverse; so many wires crossing at once. Or should I say Wi-Fi signals

crossing all at once. Cell phones, cell phone towers, Laptops, tablets,

wrist phones, radio stations, television stations…. Most of which are no

longer a luxury but a necessity. There is a myriad of social media

platforms that provide real time, face time communication, and

connection with friends, family, and friends. Group meetings can

happen at any time with large groups of people, separated

geographically, in real time. We are in a super communication age. Or

are we?

I have watched many people sit together in the same room, at the

same table, and be totally disconnected from the surroundings and

each other. All heads down, faces like stone, eyes zoned out.

Captivated by and transported into the virtual world that demands

their interaction and full attention. Notification after notification,

distraction after distraction; even while others nearby, speak to them,

they barely hear. Like someone speaking to them through a long

tunnel. I have been that person. Often saying, “huh, pardon me, or I

beg your pardon? Sorry, I did not hear you. What did you say?”

We are in a season when hearing is impaired by too many stimuli at

once. Impaired by noise. Loud noise. Constant noise. So, you cannot

hear what you need to hear.

We have all experienced an interruption in phone service, when we

have static, Wi-Fi interruption, etc.…. we have all said, “Hello! Can you

hear me now? Are you there? Can you hear me?

The fact is, so much comes at us through a variety of media sources,

that we miss out on what is important, and who is important to us. We

are in a constant state of distraction. Focus is less common and requires

more deliberate effort to maintain.

Shifting gears from technology, we know that life changes in general

can be distracting. Things that make us isolate from each other. Things

that make us not hear each other and miss communication cues from

our loved ones. Our ears are challenged to hear.

On another level, a higher level, we are not hearing God’s voice the way

we should. It is as if God’s voice is in competition with the many voices

of our times and season. But there is no contest. God is always

speaking; and only those with an ear to hear will hear Him.

Chapter 1

Itching ears

In the human ear itching is an indication there is an active infection in the ear

canal or one that is developing. When wax builds up in the ear canal it will cause

blockage and itching; which of course, will affect the ability to focus and hear

clearly.

3  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their

own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;

II Timothy 4:3

Itching ears signifies selective hearing, self-serving, self-loving hearing.…. ears that

only want to hear what we want to hear. Only what makes us feel good and comforts

the works of the flesh. Itching ears…Infected by deception. Infected by the sensual

wisdom and perception of this world.

II Timothy 3:1-4

but know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men shall be lovers of their own

selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors,

headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

Those with itching ears are looking for and finding teachers to support their deception.

Backup singers for the lies sing…justifiers of sin, with a catchy ring, who call good evil,

and call evil good, who redress the lie. Repackage the deal…while the devil steals their

destiny and distorts their purpose. So that becomes this, and this becomes

that….always Itching to hear something new but always refusing the ditching the truth.

Embracing an alternative truth. Having a form of godliness but denying the power

thereof. Itching ears do not acknowledge God’s power and sovereignty. “Itching ears” is

the spawn of false doctrine and the spirit of error. Itching ears is willing to give ear to

alternatives to God’s original instruction.

Genesis 2:17 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good

and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die."

The soul who sins shall die. Ezekiel 18:20a

Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD

God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree

of the garden’?” 4. The serpent said to the woman, “You certainly will not die!

Itching ears, itching ears…. eager for something different, yearning for a reason or excuse to

disobey or disavow the word of God, Itching ears.

Itching ears…willing to consider the lie for a moment of pleasure and satisfaction.

Itching ears…. tossed to and for with every wind of doctrine…Inconsistent…double

minded, unstable. Halt between two opinions. Itching.

CAN YOU HEAR HIM HOW?

In a human body when there is an infection, ear oil or ointment is poured into the ear to

kill the infection and sooth and stop the pain, and the itching. Only with repentance and

applying the Blood of Jesus can one be delivered from itching ears.

Romans 10:17 - So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of

God.

It takes the truth to correct distorted hearing. Only the truth can override the lie.

But repentance is necessary.

Ephesians 5:26-27 NKJV

that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He

might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such

thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.

What are these ear issues? What are the symptoms of itching ears? There are several

types of itching ears…we have all had some of these at some point or still do. Let us

explore the itch that will bewitch.

CHAPTER 2

I remember when I was a child and resisted doing what I was told to do

over and over…when it seemed I was determined to do things my way,

that I would hear my mother or maid say, “Gail, you too hard ears!”

Hard ears…. why didn’t they say hardheaded, which means you never

learn from your mistakes…which is a thing; or hard hearted, that means

lacking love, feeling, or any ability to be moved in any way. Now that is

a thing.

When someone says you have hard ears, they are tired of telling you

the same thing repeatedly, and you just acting like you are listening;

but your actions or the lack thereof contradicted that I heard anything

that was said.

Listening is in the moment…true hearing goes beyond the moment of

listening. It will lead to one responding to what was spoken or read.

Faith cometh by hearing. How many times have we listened to a

sermon…but not hear it? We did not change our actions.

Because you can sit there, and actively listen, and inactively not hear.

Then get up and do what you please. do you hard ears? You see hard

ears precedes hardheadedness, and hard heartedness.

Mathew 13:5-6

5  Some fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately

sprang up because they had no depth of earth.  6  But when the sun was up, they were

scorched, and because they had no root they withered away.

The act of not hearing is not caring about or forgetting what you heard

or read. Hearing is beyond the ears.

Like it says in James 1:25

But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer

but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

Acts 7:51

51 “You  z stiff-necked  7 and a uncircumcised in heart and ears! You

always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you.

Your heart and your ears are connected.

Uncircumcised refers to a layer of flesh that causes insensitivity to

the word or God, to the voice of God. Uncircumcised ears are

fleshly ears.…resisting the things of God….they are foolishness to

the uncircumcised ear.

“But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of

God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he

know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”

1Corinthians 2:14

Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, And take away the foreskins of your

hearts, You men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem, Lest My fury come

forth like fire, And burn so that no one can quench it, Because of the evil of

your doings.”

Jerimiah 4:4

Hebrews 3:7-8 - Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his

voice,   harde not your heart. Hear and ears…connected.

Hard ears resist the truth. Resist instructions. Hard ears do not

obey. Do you have hard ears? Do you resist the truth?

CAN YOU HEAR HIM NOW?

CHAPTER 3

Weary, Tired Ears

So tired of listening that you are now cynical. Tired of

hearing the same thing over and over till you are so tired of

believing…so skepticism sets in. Unbelief cloaked as being a

thinker, a conspiracy theorist. That person who has heard it all

but never seen. It will take an eye opening experience to bring

forth sight and restore faith hearing.

CHAPTER 4

Stubborn ears

CHAPTER 5

Ears of fear

worry and unbelief

Simply put, these are those with ears that will research for find/listen to

information to worry about and to be afraid of…. ears more prone to

believe the negative the negative report than to believe and hope for

the truth. “Whose report will you believe? We shall believe the report

of the Lord.” More prone to believe superstition. Ears that have a faith

in evil, for they But they do not know it, nor will they admit it. They

would say they are being careful. Or even that they are spiritual and

discerning…but they are always only discerning the negative. FEAR

NOT. In Jamaica they may call that bad mind.

CHAPTER 6

Ears of unbelief

CHAPTER 7

Self-righteous, Judgmental ears

Have you ever listened to pastor preach and thought of all the people who need

to hear that word? “ I sure wish Sister so & so was here, hmm, se needs to hear

this one…brother so and so better say amen! because he is the main one pastor is

talking about! Then they say preach pastor!! You are in the house pastor!!

Usually not about themselves, but about someone else. . Especially when the

word preached is one of correction? Or pointing out a specific sin. Every now and

then we have all done that. But rarely. However, if you hear the word and never

apply it to yourself you are dealing with self-righteous ears. Judgmental ears.

Prideful ears.

“Pastor could not be talking to me. No way. It must be someone else.”

This ear infection is most common to those who have been in the faith for a long

time. They know the word inside and out, they say and may even be very

accomplished in their spiritual prowess and sometimes, not always, have titles to

their name. It is harder for them to go to the alter, or repent. Because they feel it

must be for the new converts only… “plus I will pray and repent at home.” I am a

seasoned saint…what would I look like going to the alter after being in the church

for all these years? Do you have Prideful ears?

Matthew 18:2-4

2  Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them,  3  and

said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children,

you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.  4  Therefore whoever humbles

himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Do you have self-righteous, judgmental ears?

CHAPTER 8

Prideful Ears

A prideful ear never wants to be told what to do…it is a defensive ear. Assumes

that everything is an attack on them…no matter what is said or how it is

said…prideful ears do not want you to tell them because then that would mean

they do not know, and of course they know everything. They will always tell you I

know. I know. I know. You don’t have to tell me that. The want to be the smartest

one in the room. There is a lack of humility in the prideful ear. There is blindness

and deafness in a prideful ear. But they don’t know that they don’t know.

They will cut you off if they think what you about to say is going to be against

them, correct them, or offend them. Prideful ears…ever leaning but never coming

to the knowledge of the truth. Pride is blind and deaf that’s why it lead to a fall

and to destruction.

Matthew 13:13-15 - Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing

see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.   (Read More...)

seeing but do not perceive, hearing but do not understand or discern.

Hearing of faith

Luke 8:15 - But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good

heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

Galatians 3:2 - This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works

of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Hebrews 4:2 - For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the

word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

CHAPTER 9

What kind of ears do you have? How do you hear?

That is how you receive.

CHAPTER 10

An ear to hear

Matthew 13:3-9

The Lord esteem hearing above speaking and taking actions.

James 1:19-27 - Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear,

slow to speak, slow to wrath:   (Read More...)

Isaiah 55:11 - So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not

return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper

in the thing whereto I sent it.

see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.   (Read More...)

Wow! This is a magnificent..

Wow! This is a magnificent piece of work! My first thought on seeing it was, this is so long! Long, yes, but well-written and fascinating to read. Thank you so much for sharing it.

By the way, I was looking at your name. If you take the letters in your name and scramble them, you can come up with the following:   GAIL CLARKE  =  A, G. REALLI C, K?

And since I can't leave well enough alone, if you're interested the type of poetry I compose, look at your online name. Haven't figured how the W fits in, but nevertheless. WISDOMS CRY  =  SRIOS CMDY. W?

Ok, I figured out where the W goes. If you're Elmer Fudd, he'd say I compose

SWRIOS CMDY.
