Daddy today is another year that I have an opportunity

 to express my love and care

I could have bought a card

 But that is so played

 I could have bought a tie

But you look cooler in tea shirt & jeans, no lie.

There is so much I could do and say

but I just want to reminisce today

Is that okay?

my first date that you totally destroyed

 sweet sixteen, not so sweet

First dance halted, frozen feet

we danced too close

So you stood there

Clearing your throat tapping your feet

I now recognize your protection was truly sweet

truly love

truly treasuring me

weekend getaways

driving down to the country

Taking in all the sights

eating spicy shrimp from side vendors on the street

all that spice made my eyes water

but it flavored forever my memory of being your daughter

 sitting on the veranda watching the stars

and lights on Blue mountain at  night

 I miss looking at the world through your sight

 Ackee and salt fish on Sunday morn

fried dumpling with meal of corn

Perfect tables manners was your thing

 I couldn’t wait for you to leave

so I could chew up that chicken bone and wing

you were fun,  yet so stern, that was your way

 but words cannot express how much I love you today

you were not always perfect in my eyes yet . . . .

I remember the day I recognized I had your eyes

I had your lips and I wore your smile

I heard you laugh when I did too

My joyful  thunderous roll it was an echo of you

There is no man in the world that could ever be higher

No man walking who could do so in your shoes

Daddy you are the one that I admire

My first thought of who a man is what a man should be

 Has been established by the example you have been to me

 My sense of self, my sense of worth

Were crowned by you from my birth

As I watched you do what you do,

I was so proud of you

 I still am

 “That’s my daddy I would say, he’s a real man”

so today daddy as  A GIFT

 I pray for you with all my heart

Dear Heavenly Father in Jesus name

Please bless my father today

I love him so

You know he doesn’t know you

 He thinks he knows but evidence has taken toll

Lord I ask you today to save his soul

 Lord please heal his broken places

 Please make him whole

 Lord, deliver him from every stronghold

 Lord break the shackles that hold him bound

Lord in the heavenly  let there be a sound

a war to release him from the lie to the truth

Oh Lord please go after him

He has ran from his youth

Lord the scales on his eyes please remove

The blocks in his ears uproot

 Lord your hand is not too short

Lord your ear can hear

Please Lord, even in his old age

at what seems  like a late stage

 he seems set in his stubborn ways

work a miracle

 Lord please reach my Daddy today

so that his days will truly be happy

and full of joy

So that when I say HAPY FATHERS’ DAY

I will not be coy

I ask this in the mighty name of Jesus
