The Freedom Feigns

In the land of the free

We do what we want to

Without harming anybody

Buf for ourselves we can't do

What the human nature allows

When they try to change our ways

To the way the law bounds

With its hypocritical praise

We find ourselves restricted

Stripped of our rights and liberties

Innocent people convicted

For beliefs of contrary

Isn't it ridiculous

How they should serve and protect

They see passed the real problem

And let go the real criminal

Blinded by confidence within them

But their accomplishments -- minimal

For if people kept to themselves

Instead of seeking control

We would not live through such hell

No place free from the world you patrol

Now let your people rest

Because we don't want to fight

To fuel your unrighteous quest

Thus humanity suffers blight

Author's Notes/Comments:

I wrote this around the time of 9/11, but it was also a time when a couple of my best friends were having bad times and how blind our government is.
