Emergency Room

Folder:
Hospital Areas

Excited murmurs and loud groans of pain,
ride the broken silence  in the Emergency Room.
Staff members in scrub suits and whites, hover
    on clients prioritized by triage.

There is never peace or silence to break,
Not when people from all standings flood in.
There is no time to  feel or hesitate,
Not when lives are at stake behind draped flints.

To the weak who swoons at the sight of blood,
this place of action could be harsh to you.
To the strong, toughened by hard experience,
they too give in to emotions at times.

During disasters and calamities,
wailing ambulances are constant sounds.
Charged activities would be everywhere,
even white tiles could turn muddy or crimson.

All types of cases for immediate care,
they all pass through its wide open portals.
Some unlucky are never going home,
the lucky ones get discharged much relieved.

I have always admired the sacrifices
   each ER worker commit to service.
They work to save lives, they try beating God.
They cry for a loss, and in success smile.

I know of this because I once was one.

To great courage, to fierce dedication;
To true service, to selfless duty acts;
To humility, to tough caring hearts;
To the Emergency Department staff...

Author's Notes/Comments:

There are never dull moments in the ER. It is one of my favorite areas.
