THE DREAM

Everything is so real in my dream...

You and I are walking hand-in-hand along the shore-

Talking and laughing-we are so happy.

Nothing else matters or even exists

When we are alone in our little world.

I can actually feel your arms around me,

Your lips are gently kissing mine

And the warmth of your body lying next to me

As your fingertips softly caress my cheek.

It all seems so real

That I get caught up in the fantasy

Believing we are really there.

Suddenly, without warning, you let go of my hand

And begin walking away.

I beg you to stay just a little bit longer

And when you get to your car, I run to you and hold you tight.

I sense your mixed feelings and an old pain has returned.

You say nothing, but I ask you to let go of your past;

Learn to trust and love again,

Forget how badly you were once hurt.

Something holds you back and you are afraid - but so am I;

If we don't give "us" a chance and let go of our past,

We'll never be able to love again

Or know if we can make our love last.

You pull me close and hold me tight,

Then kiss me long and tenderly for what would be the last time.

The you drive off in to the sunset without a word of goodbye

As my eyes fill with tears.

Now, the dream becomes reality and I awaken,

Only to find that you are not beside me-

I'm clutching my tear-stained pillow and I know I'm all alone.

Someday I pray my dream will finally come true;

For life is so much brighter when you share it with the one

That you love with all your heart.

I pray each night that we'll soon be together

And live the rest of our lives with God's blessing-forever.
