The Sun and The Moon

Moon: We’ve been here since the beginning, we’ve seen it all, we’ve heard it all, we know them all.

Sun: We tried to keep them safe, but they surely won’t let us help, they want it all, they need it all, they envy all.

Moon: We just don’t get how could they forget the world in which they lived, so filled with life and soul, a world that wasn’t unlived nor unloved.

Sun: In the past we were just one, and to attain we shall divide.

Moon: I bring light to their night.

Sun: I emit warmth during the day.

Moon: Why have they dwelled in apathy when all we’ve offered is a glowing light to alight their hearts?

Sun: We were foolish to believe they could be saved.

Moon: We were not foolish, for kindness in the face of hatred is the best road to salvation.

Sun: I believe you’re right, Moon. Still, war is their way to solve their problems. Hatred is their driving force towards undue prosperity. Nobility is achieved throughout owning material things instead of humility of the heart. I am tired moon, for they are at a point of no return.

Moon: Yes, you’re right. But what about love? There is still magic down there, there really is. I feel it in the way the mother nurtures her child; the embrace between lovers, and the sweet pat on the shoulder between friends.

Sun: We have been alive for hundreds of years Moon, but never in my living days have I felt the urge to abandon my place in this solar system and find another one to offer my light.

Moon: You could forgive Sun, and try once again. I believe it’s the right thing to do.

Sun: I’m really sorry but I don’t think I can, they just don’t deserve to live under our nourishing light.

Moon:  But what about the fish in the sea, the gazelles running through the meadows, the bears, and the lions, and the tigers and the swans, how could this be their fault?

Sun: There’s no one to blame but the cruel pass of time, for there’s no worse enemy than a fortune that will arrive, and moon, let me tell you, their time has come, they’ve been given opportunities but they just don’t come along.

Moon: Sun, you don’t get it, without you life will be lost, there’s no point of me staying if your light will be long gone.

Sun: Your light will be enough to guide them through the tough, I trust you for the quest of saving all we’ve known.

Moon: I can’t see them anymore, the lives I used to protect, the faces I used to light, the love I used to behold. All the good is consuming to a never-ending darkness, I don’t know how to stop it because there’s no more lightness. I’m sorry Sun I’ve failed you, I’ve missed my quest, I really tried to save them but I’ve been defeated by time.
