"On The Run"

lyrics

my folks don't understand me

my analyst's a fool

the Lithium he gives me

is making me un-cool

last night, my girl, she left me

today I lost my job

I'll have to bum some money

or I'm gonna have to rob

on the run...got nowhere to go

on the run...why should life be so

on the run...my mind it is twisting

on the run...the fun I'll be missing

my car , oh it was stolen

my house went up in flames

I'll drown my mind in whiskey

forget it with some games

this tough luck I've been having

just seems to have no end

I guess I'll buy a six-pack

go out and find a friend

on the run...got nowhere to go

on the run...why should life be so

on the run...my mind it is twisting

on the run...the fun i'll be missing

Author's Notes/Comments:

I wrote this song in 1977 when I was going through a typical teenage rebel phase. The music is very punk-new-wave (typical "77 stuff)
I think it could've been a big HIT, but I was too blown away to promote myself....that's life!

I like the poem. I like how it moves, like from one place to the next and you dont notice much.
