Space

Gazing up into your eyes

In awe of their spacious skies

The sun rises above the mountain

My soul awakens with my body

Invigorated by the striking electric colors

Lighting up the sky

As you awaken and brighten the landscape of my life

After the sun retires with magnificent fanfare

The moon smiles down with its subtle illumination

Looking upon the world, quiet and still

I love its elegant grace

As your kind, loving nature

Even when a storm hits

The clouds are beautiful in their darkness

Powerful, angry lightning

And the ongoing finality of thunder

Your electricity strikes me

Whether clear or overcast skies

I see infinity in your eyes

Author's Notes/Comments:

(Dec. '06) It isn't actually a "serious" poem..This was for AP English..we had to compare someone we love to 'the nicest thing in the world.' I really love the sky, lol, so it ended up as a love poem about the sky with "and you too" kinda stuck in there. I'm really not into writing blatant love poems like that.
