Looking in The Mirror

Looking in the mirror

I don't like what I see

Not because I hate myself

But because it isn't me

Looking in the mirror

I fight what's looking back at me

A demon from within

Trying to break free

Looking in the mirror

I cry at what I see

Pangs of regret, torment

Over what shouldn't be

Looking in the mirror

I destroy what looks like me

An imposter, a fraud

Claiming to be me

Looking at the cross

I see He who died for me

Who saw my value and gave Himself

Out of love for me

Looking at the cross

I long for what I see

Love divine amidst the hate

A God who said "Crucify me"

Looking in the tomb

Stone rolled back, empty

Look not for the living amongst the dead

He gave hope to you and me
