Grow Young Along With Me

(On this quote of Robert Browning)

           I

Grow old along with me!

The best

is yet to be,

the last

of life,

for which

the first

was made.

Our times are in His hand

Who saith,

'A whole I planned,

youth shows

but half;

Trust God:

See all,

nor be

afraid!'

             II

My times are trailing long

behind

me where I've gone;

they wind --

vistas

of joy,

my awe

to see!

My life is not misspent;

I loved

each place I went.

I dared

and moved

beyond

the paths

Fate laid

for me.

             III

Grow young again with me!

What Youth

could never see:

first kiss,

lust's blush,

were not

so sweet

or warm !

Our joyous pinions spread

from earth.

For Christ hath said,

"I have

prepared

mansions

before

the earth

was formed."

              IV

Oh, Hounds of Death, be still,

sated

be with thy fill.

Those flown,

we loved,

whom you

have born

away!

Our spirits soar to God,

left, lone

sad paths we've trod.

Glorious

our gain,

His plan.

His will:

our good

alway'.

             I

Grow old along with me!  The best is yet to be,

the last of life, for which the first was made.

Our times are in His hand Who saith, 'A whole I planned,

youth shows but half; Trust God: See all, nor be afraid!'
