"Perfect"

The crowds are screaming for you,

The cameras flash and strobe lights buzz.

In the florescent lighting you stare

At your blurry reflection in the graying mirror.

The sweat chills your neck and you

Keep looking over your shoulder paranoid.

You never thought it'd come to this,

They're all waiting for you out their in the rain.

The introduction begins to play and

They get louder with each strung chord made.

One last look and then you're going

Down the hall, busting out with the rise of curtains.

The lights burn your eyes and they

Make you dizzy as you look out into the crowd.

They're faces grow deformed and

You shudder at their love for you and your talent.

Step back and you feel like falling.

The whole crowd is calling and the band is drawling.

Monsters now, they've all become,

And the fear grips and rips at your chest like claws.

Turn your face, run the other way.

Leave the stage and everyone shocked to silence.

Just keep running, ignore the stares.

You're finally free and getting out of there.

Shove your way out into the rain and

You let it fall upon your heated face as you breath.

You listen for the continuing screams,

But you're not going back; there's something more you need.

Just clear your mind and forget the time.

You know you can't be perfect, but they treat it like a crime.

Sadly you know the show must go on,

You've started this act so you have to go along.

Let your shoulders slump in exhaustion,

And head back to the noise, screams, lights, and lies...

You never thought it'd come to this,

And you realize you're just what they all want...
