My daily POEM Feb 05, 2004

Arrogant civilisations came and went like smoke

From the burnt fields that stinks the eyes

But trails off towards the mounts never to be seen again.

Civilisations once thought invincible are now as quiet

As the moon; the Romans, The Egyptians, the Macedonians,

Mongolians; where are they now? All those who once braved

The world with tough horses and excellent swords glinting

In the sun? Their arrogance plotted their own premature

Demise and shortlived history? Like Hitler, Nazi and the former

Japanese Army? These against the Chinese whose civilisation withstood

For 5,000 years despite unimaginable tribulations

Self-righteous nations threw across its path aiming for subjugation.

Kudos to the yellow-skinned who came out from these predicardments

Stronger than ever! Kudos to the people who place the scholars

Above the soldiers in their society structures.

And as they say....the pen is mightier than the sword;

Arrogance never Pays; persuasion, respect for the

World and patience that the pen preaches help civilisation thrive.

China to offer courses on ways to sustain civilisation?
