Alone in the Park

Wipe away your shadows so I can see your eyes

Your attention is my temptation

My heart is screaming at my senses

But my mind won’t take action

Under trellises of hope

Is where I think of you

With the sun on your face

And your eyes penetrating back into mine.

I am the lullaby you used to

Hear before bed,

Impelling those soft, calm thoughts

Into your head

You’re a distant roller coaster

Missing out on the first drop

Means I’m constantly behind

Your front seat favorites

But when I try to move up

I just get thrown off by your sharp curves.

Paint a picture of this while you’re reading

Then send it to me in a month

And we’ll see what October has to say

Its gold leaves add to the magic

This park, this bench, our thighs almost connect

And the lines on our jeans match up to say,

My chances are falling faster than that tear dripping down your face.
