I C U Elsie, not doing too well, see

Elsie was a registered nurse

Who'd never dare utter a curse

She'd say 'My life is a blessing

Don't wanna be messing

With those words, would just make it worse'

One day, while she was working, a crook

Broke into her apartment and took

Everything that she had

Did Elsie get mad?

'No, as long as I have the Good Book'

As she got older, her health, it got worse

Lots of money she had to disperse

Elsie made something clear

That all near and dear should hear

'Make sure there's enough for a hearse'

After Elsie passed and was no longer alive

At her funeral, all waited for the hearse to arrive

But, in what some would say is an ironic reversal

The driver of the hearse, Will, fell ill

No hearse? No time to rehearse, Elsie's dead, can't do it live

Driver Bill, you need to be forgiving

The excuse that he was giving

He really did fall ill

He was sorry, but still

Can he get paid? He's just trying to make a living!
