Headline in the N.Y. Times:
'Pentagon Bars Photographers From Briefings on Iran War'
This headline doesn't particularly grind my gears, but it confuses me on several levels:
Why does the Pentagon want to bar photographers from briefings on the Iran War?
They say the space where they work can be used more effectively. You believe that? The Pentagon, led by Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, wants to restrict any information the press may have access to. He gets very defensive if you ask him about it. That's not surprising. He is, after all, the Secretary of Defense. He should get defensive about it.
If the Pentagon bars photographers from briefings on the Iran War, can I assume they would welcome photographers if they had longings for the Iran War and want it to continue?
If they were in favor of it, why should the Pentagon bar them from any briefings? They should be welcomed with open arms! Uh..'open arms' isn't what I mean.
Photographers take pictures, right? If photographers want this war to go on, let them take all the pictures they want. In the immortal words of Pee Wee Herman 'Take a picture, it'll last longer!'
