Give Trump a break

Headline in today's N.Y. Times:

'As Trump Continues to Insult E. Jean Carroll, 2nd Defamation Trial Opens'

https://www.nytimes.com/2024/01/15/nyregion/e-jean-carroll-trump-defamation-trial.html

You may think, if you've read my other posts, that I'm no fan of Donald Trump. And you'd be right. However, I must take issue with the N.Y. Times for printing what I believe is misleading information about him. In the sub-headline to the story (click link to see), it's noted 'But the former president continues to claim he does not know who she is'.

Is Trump telling the truth that he doesn't know who E. Jean Carroll is? No. But I don't think he was referring to E. Jean Carroll when he made that remark. So who was he referring to?

Headline in the N.Y. Times:

'Who Are the Houthis and Why Is the U.S. Attacking Them?'

https://www.nytimes.com/2024/01/11/world/middleeast/houthi-yemen-red-sea-attacks.html

The Houthis are an Iranian-backed rebel group that have attacked ships in the Red Sea since the war between Israel and Hamas started. How does this relate to Trump?

This is what I believe happened. Trump was asked to comment on the E. Jean Carroll new trial. He said she's lying, blah blah blah, what else is new? Then he was asked, as a former President, how he would handle the Houthis if he still was in office. He must have responded by saying something like 'Who? Houthis? I don't know Houthis is'. I have no issue with him not knowing who they are. I, along with many others, didn't know either. That's why the Times wrote an article telling us, right?

In my opinion, the Times hatred for Trump overpowered their sound journalistic judgement in this particular case. They took his comment and made it seem like he was talking about E. Jean Carroll. Shame on you N.Y Times! When it comes to Donald Trump, there's certainly enough 'true' lies to inform your readers about. You don't have to resort to lying about his lying!
