I wrap the night around me

And gaze forever

Into the moonless desert sky

The horizon has said its last goodbye

Hours after the sun

And though I walk

There is no sound

Except the crunch

Beneath my boots

And echos of her voice

A thousand miles from nowhere

Is not enough
