Stolen Innocence

Heartache

Full of beauty and a soul so pure,

also naive and insecure.

She never thought it could happen to her,

until one day she let him through her door.

He's just a neighbor, it's alright, she thought.

He seems pretty nice, and hey...he's really hot!

She never imagined what would happen next,

He was a jerk, and oversexed.

He started to put moves on her,

she tried to push him away, and fell to the floor.

Needless to say, he took advantage,

She tried to fight him, but couldn't manage.

He ignored her cries as she screamed in pain,

All her prostesting was in vain.

For once he had finished, he made her swear,

she would never tell anyone what happened there.

Years had passed, she felt dirtier everyday,

she should've spoke up, but didn't know what to say.

Deep down inside, she thought she was to blame,

After all, she barely even knew his name.

The guilt got so bad that she ended her life,

never got the chance to be someone's wife.

Before she ended up committing suicide,

Her soul itself that tragic day died.

Author's Notes/Comments:

This poem is obviously about sexual abuse, something that is very real in our society.  I guess it's just a call out to everyone, reminding them not to let their guards down.  Not from personal experience, but well, something that is important.

Very touching...it's sad that things like that happen in this world. Keep writing!

Absolutely. I tend to write about social issues also. I had a friend we thought was lost to suicide that had experienced this first hand. She is a lot better now, but it took a long time and resolving other issues to get past it. Well written.
