Distance

Folder:
2017

I fall asleep and your color is the last thing I see,

for a moment I forget about how my scar is open

because I am mesmerized by the blood flow.

You talk over all my louder dreams,

they shout out until I’m awake or I’m numb

but they are quieter now

I’d rather hear your voice.

We meet stealing in between the minutes

Sometimes words are wasted

and the only way I can tell you who you are

is to let you breathe harder or easier.

You don’t need to tell me twice

to kiss away the distance,

I want to love every inch of you.

Even though it’s miles away

and I don’t know the territory well yet

my other home is in your arms.
