Sleep, My Son

Sleep, my son, and know the happiness of an untroubled heart,

for soon you'll have to part your carefree life

and come to know the strife of an adult.

Sleep sound, my son, and in your innocence of dreams

where every day, it seems, is full of fun and play,

just dream your cares away.

Sleep tight, my son, and grow, for mighty burdens will you know and you must have strength of shoulder and courage to defeat the whims of Satan and his hatin'ways.

So, sleep, my son, and when at last you're ready,

you'll be both strong and steady,

and the current that you navigate

will lead directly to the fate you choose...

        I love you…

Author's Notes/Comments:

I look back with nostalgia... and some little remorse... but mostly nostalgia and love. He is a full grown man, now, with a child of his own... how time doth fly!!!
