Starting Next Year
Life starts here in less than a year,
A senior graduating and going out into the world,
Sheltered from things very few people will ever see,
And exposed to things that should never have to be.
The clock ticking as the second hand moves to-
Quarter past childhood,
And the minute hand ticking away-
Towards my future.
Wiping the slate clean,
And preparing myself for my life.
Preparing myself to even everything out-
That I've piled up,
And scramble everything up that has always-
Seemed to run so fine.
Getting ready to start life with my first step out the door,
preparing to take life one breath at a time-
And appreciating the life that has been-
Washed clean.
Getting ready to leave everything I used to know-
And starting a new routine.
Next year starting clean.
