Every morning before the morning

That I woke up with you

Were mornings when the sun was dimmer

And the sky was not so blue

When the air was not so sweet and fresh

And the day didn't seem so new

And I was not the man

That I am

'Till the morning I woke up with you



'Cause you unlocked a lock inside of me

That I didn't know was there

You showed me things about myself

You were tough but you were fair

I never thought that I could say

There's more to life than this

But you made me see

Inside of me

Something that I had missed



I remember once long ago

I was thinking to myself

That all I was was all I'd be

And there just wasn't much to tell

And then you came into my life

And I was shocked at how blind I'd been

And all at once

This life of mine

Had finally a place to begin

That I didn't know was there

You were tough but you were fair

I never thought that I could say

Well I'd been such a fool for so long

I was weak but you have shown me how to be strong

I can never put in words how much I love you

But maybe I can put it in a song

I'm just so sorry that it's taken me so long
