We met in a world
Where words are our faces
Our smiles our laughs
Our faraway places
Where we can hold hands
And laugh through the night
Or smile and wish
As they hold us tight
We may never know
Where the means meet the ends
As neighbors or lovers
Or the best of friends
So type away quickly
And word me your smiles
Because I'd like to log on
And hang out awhiles

Author's Notes/Comments:

I was chatting with someone online, and quite suddenly, I noticed everything.  Yes, an odd statement, but that's the best wording I can find.  I noticed that this chat phenomenon had become it's own world, universe, millieux, whatever you care to call it.  And it was amazing, humbling, silly, and frightening all at once; but, mostly it was kinda cute.  And then this poem happened.

Boy did you hit the nail on the head...we all share these feelings when on line..and you captured it 'simply'. Donna
