The King of Empty Promises

A cacaphony of promises

From a distance

Seeming sweet and true

Are little more than empty

Until

Time has lent them proof

Resistance is met

It's easier to assume the worst

Than die

Expecting the best

A roomful of eyes

None sparkle

A world full of colours

All in subdued hues

Potential for happiness

Not to be in absence of you

'All I do is think about you,

Hear your name and I start, start to cry,

There's just no getting over you'

And I wouldn't want to

If my feelings for you

Were a 'True/False' test

You could take it like Linus

And say

'I trued it'

I love you. True

I need you. True

I'll never be truly happy without you. True

I miss you more than I thought I could miss anything. True

I can't imagine anyone else in my life. True

You're the paramount example of woman. True

I won't hurt you. True

You don't have to believe me

Not now

You can 'Oh God' me to death

That's fine

I know

I believe

I'll be no dirtier when I come back to you

I'm not so young anymore

I can't be a womanizer anyway

All I need is you

And without you

I don't want anyone

I promise.
