i had a beagle named spot once, and he became a three-leggèd amputee because he got out and a bus ran him right over. Question, is this poem intended to contain a dark humor? the sudden way the slant rhyme palates induces such an appearance.

Thank you for commenting.  I am sorry to hear about Spot's accident.  As for the dark humor---it was not a part of the intention behind the poem, which was simply to be a brief elegy for a pet that did not survive an accidental encounter with an automobile.
