Every sideways glance

Well did I, to spite myself
I come home to dream
and find nothing there.
walking in pale moonlight
upon a light treelined path
your face is wished for
every hollow step,
every sideways glance
to catch your face;
Your feet to cause
every rustle alas the
stars keep watch,
in company.
I wish I had time,
I wish I had time.
instead I gaze up
and glance at
the midnight sun.
