To bring some joy to earth

Lighting bottle rockets from

a bedroom window

We launched our dreams into the sky

In those twilight hours of childhood

we could do no wrong

Nothing was impossible to us

What heights did we hope to reach

As our rockets lifted upward

Popped and fell to earth

But we were young and new

and undaunted

Bulging at the seams full tilt

with wild dreams

Hoping to crack

the vaulted canopy of heaven

To bring some joy

to earth

What a brilliant strategy:

What a brilliant strategy: turning an enchanting childhood memory into a metaphor for unsinkable hope and an inspiring dream for humanity as a whole.

You accomplished so much, artistically, emotionally and philosophically, in this delicately woven treasure.

"But we were young and new

and undaunted

Bulging at the seams full tilt

with wild dreams

Hoping to crack

the vaulted canopy of heaven"

Have to read that again: just too good to enjoy once and move on.

Keep it like a treasure

In the course of life there are many things we discard. Hope should never be one of them.
