Parakeet Plea

Little bird.
Life began for you from a egg.
We watch as you chirp and beg.
Trapped in boxed in wire.
Little bird,yearns to fly higher.
Twigs and branches,you don't know.
Caged in, Thats how you'll have to grow.
Learn to except your boundries.
We take pleasure in your chirps,
Don't you see?
I have bought you.
Now you belong to me.
You can only flutter so high.
Little bird, sighs.
Rest on a perch to sing.
Sing the parakeet plea.
I take pleasure in thee.
Sing the parakeet plea.
Humans take enjoyment with your song.
We feel we did nothing wrong.
The parakeet plea.
Oh, little bird sing to me.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I have two pet parakeets, I guess this poem was inspired by them.
