The Past #6

Folder:
In the Past

There's a sturdy clutch to the air about you

A little harder to breathe, a little more to take in

Distinct in your everything, as modest as can be

These things about you are always so charming to me

A bit light-headed in your presence, I apologize

I'm sorry for these sorry's and everything in between

Through a stubborn mule such as I, you try and you try

The beauty of your actions is what keeps me awake or alive

You keep smiling for me, reinforcing and believing

And I just can't seem to speak my gratitude freely

What I deny and what I may doubt,

a girl such as you is there to lend a prayer

Through your touch and your occasional stare

These lips of yours are what I'm in need of

The possibilities considered were just cast aside

Weathered and withering in the back of our minds

But here we are, and I think it's safe to say

That you and I together are doing pretty okay

And I'm in dire need of a good way to express

These things that are pushing their way through

And I'm trying my damndest, in my distress

But I can't say much more than that, I love you.

And I'll do my best to keep your eyes on mine.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I guess it really is impossible to write a poem about a significant other with over-doing it a bit. Still, I really liked how this turned out. I'm back, baby.
