Vertical Disturbance

A top the sky scraper

Gazing upon the city so bleak

the government so forgetful,

the citizens so weak

People yelling constantly

Kids playing in the streets

Gun shots heard nightly

With no attempt to be discreet

From one building to another

sounds mix together to form

a sort of music of this time and age

Some of peace and belonging,

of struggle and difficulty,

and some of violence and rage

As you stare into the city twilight

think about what lurks below you

honest people, with an honest heart

evil men and women, who long to rip you apart

This is the city, I know it so well

Some struggle to get here

Others just drop here, and stay where they fell

I know this places consequence

It's confusion, emotion, regret

Yet it's so easy to figure out

funniest of all, I don't even live here....yet.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I'm fascinated by how different the city is from my little suburban paradise. How often do you hear about killings, robberies, rapings, and general violence in the cities? All the time. But not much news comes from the green land area of the town.

Overall, Suburbia can be a very boring place, but I'd rather live here then the alternative.
