Little Angel

Little angel sittin on the sidelines

Pure smooth satin, wings that glimmer

Her smile says that everything’s fine

Eyes that let her deep blue soul shimmer

Present a perfect face, kind and good

Scream your truth, as all men should

Fight the system that embraces your world

Break space, break mind, break pain, all hurled

Bring about freedom’s revenant

Little angel with one wing bent

You’ve glimpsed the truth, photographed the hope

You’ve seen the viper of the hangman’s rope

Little angel on the sidelines

Pure smooth satin, wings that glimmer

A voice says everything is fine

And eyes that let her deep blue soul shimmer

Beauty, mind, strength, spirit

Future, small or great, there’s no need to fear it

Can you withstand the shaping fires?

Or will this angels frame adorn the funeral pyres?

Little angel on the sidelines

Pure smooth satin, wings that glimmer

Aura that says everything is fine

With eyes that let her deep blue soul shimmer

Author's Notes/Comments:

About a woman who is more dear to me than either of us will probably ever know. She isn't near to me (though i wish she was) just dear to me. If that sounds too melodramatic, then let's just say she is the coolest person i know, and the most like me of any of the people i've written poems about. ;)
