Long ago, the great Poet-scholar, J. V. Cunningham, taught that compression was one of the great strengths of classic poetry, and this poem of yours certainly demonstrates and confirms his assertion.  Its brevity has a timelessness that, as Shakespeare wrote, "Age cannot wither, nor custom stale . . ."
