I'm still not tired

I never am anymore

That is to say if

I ever was before

Sometimes it gets lonely

Being the only one awake

As I watch you sleep

I want to give you a gentle shake

But I won't because

You deserve your rest, my dear

It's only sometimes that I wish

There was somebody else here

We could talk about things

We wouldn't say in the morning light

A blanket of darkness to hide in

That's what I like about the night

And you never have to mean

Anything you say

Because as soon as the sun comes up

It wouldn't matter anyway

But sleep, if you must

I'm doing great

Just remember in the morning

To let me sleep in late

You may have had a great night

But it's not so easy for me

Sometimes watching you sleep

Gets awful lonely.
