A heart to never change

Heart of stone

Cold as ice

I paid the price

When I walked up to you

Thought you were different

Thought you would change

People tell me I was selfish

For thinking you’d transform

Just for me

I wanted it for you too

But you were the greedy one

Too involved in yourself

To give a damn about me

Or anyone else

There’s a place in my mind

That’s slowly emptied

For the past few years

It was filled with hope

Happiness, dreams, anticipation

You came along

And destroyed it

Every last ounce of anything

Is gone
