ALL I ASK

I will bring you to a place with salty

breeze. We’ll walk in the sand

let our footsteps form memories

untarnished by the ebbing tides, the sea

our friend. Let me be the surf to wash

your shore. Let me become a whisper

amidst the silence, the vastness around us.

Let me be locked up inside the tiniest

chamber of your heart, away from the roaring

elements. Let me become a tear

and I would sit upon the corners

of your eyes. Let me be a promise spoken

by your lips, and should death separate us,

let me slip away first for I do not wish

to struggle for breath

without you.

I liked the prose style. Allows the rhythm to form by itself. Wonderful lines to say to a lover.

Serene,
This poem is a wonderful display of art. In fact, I am a publisher and would be interested in publishing it in three of my up-coming titles if you're interested in becoming a published author. Let me know and keep up the good work! Web URL: WWW.THEEAGLESGARDEN.COM

WHAT AN AMAZING COMBINATION of simple, 1-, 2-, & 3-syllable words ! ! You have a talent that is very mature, and a way of filtering your own, very obviously acute and poinant emotions, in a way that causes your readers to dredge back up their OWN emotions. You have carried ME back to the pleasant beaches I once inhabited with a lover, and through your eyes and words, I was again on that beach. I tasted the salt, I felt its spray, I saw those eyes again, recited from the sand but did not understand the words she wrote with a tawny, frail hand, heard the surf mimic her low laughter, and - - - - - well, I suppose I should write my OWN poem, heh ! ? ? You have wrestled the demon of apathy into submission, and you have written a masterpiece of pathos and sentiment. Thank you. Yours is one I shall print out and keep as inspiration, tucked into my Bartlett's. Thanks again.

I really liked this poem. It had a very powerful, yet subtle, use of imagry that really passed the message on to the reader without interference.

My, my, my, I felt as though I were reading a private love letter from a mast wordsmith to his beloved when I read this. Very nicely put, and very good job of pulling your reader into the verse.
