He Said She Said

He Said

We agree to meet at our favorite place tonight,

She’s unaware of the conversation I will ignite.

And when I see her my heart begins to suffocate,

Yet my mind overpowers me as I reveal our fate.

Pearls in her eyes fade as I clean out my heart,

Tears slide down her broken face as I depart.

Her shattered chat isn’t enough for me to return,

My feet take me home as my heart continues to burn.

Thump! My heart reminds me that this is for her gain,

With nothing good to offer I could only cause her pain

She will only realize there is a better life once I am dead,

I say, “I love you” as I pull the trigger facing my head.

She Said

Like any other night we agree to meet at our place,

When he arrives I see sadness spread across his face.

Worried I rush to him and wonder what’s wrong,

His mouth remains silent so I remind him to stay strong.

The silence breaks and his words cause me to shed tears

Then he turns and walks away from all of our years.

Despite my best efforts he continues to leave as I cry.

Waiting for him to return I consistently question why.

Finally, the words sink within my body as I begin to leave,

Once home I reach for the sharpest knife as I grieve.

This life I live would be pointless unless it had you,

So I stab my own heart whispering the words, “I love you.”
