Following Our Hearts

The time that's past can be taken for granted, but the time ahead cannot.  To take the best of what is left is not the way we go.  Lost, sulking while the memories soak through the stains left from the tears that fought their way through the joy.  They fought for the sadness that slowly wins each battle against the cry of hope.  The hand that moves the pawn holds your heart.  The queen that broke you will not let you forget.  Although too hard to make the best, it is too easy to dwell on the past, but is it any better to dwell on the future?  The strange anticipation that someday the tears will have exhausted themselves, the battles will turn, and the war will be over, can leave little room for an open mind.  Do not try to accept things as they are, or understand why.  Rather know the difference between hope and absolution.  Know that timing is critical in solving the puzzle of happiness, and closure is the difference between a dream and a lie.  The lie your life told your soul that you were on the right path.  Be careful not to lose sight of the sparkle and the gleam that escapes from your eyes when the shadows are overrun by your love.  We were following our hearts, but yours went the wrong way.
