A Sonnett -- Unfettered

If I am to live within the bounds of liberty

then from these fetters I need to break free

Shall then I dare to cast off these chains

and leave behind these memories remains

If I am shackled, by the thoughts that haunt

then freedom must be gained from its taunt

In bravery and determination I can escape

and walk proudly again on freedoms landscape

If I am to travel the opens roads unbound

then liberties hope can somewhere be found

This, then is my only desire, to find release

and run barefooted in the meadow of release

If I am to leave behind those ties that bind

then I need the desire to go out and, love, find

Susie

Nice poem. I love how you convey the idea of freedom and the idea of chains.
