One Step Too Far

I’m intrigued

Confusion became my middle name

If I spent a thousand years

You’ll still be one step too far from me

When finally it felt sane

You came along

With a handful of madness

And swept me off my feet

It’s exhilarating

But suffocating

And I find it hard to take my breath

When you’re one step too far.

I should have landed

On a velvet ground

But I’m still swept

Suspended

Between your intricate threads

Landing on a thorny bush

And no one to relieve me

When you're just one step too far.
