About a Girl- Part 4.

In three short years
She grew up fast
She learned to cope
Was so convincing
She believed herself

She worshipped the ground
He was everything
If he was pleased
So was she
She loved him!

He spoke of a house
Away from the city
They would move
Far away...

But she took transit
She could not drive
And she was afraid
Of leaving...
Somehow being close
To her family
She did not see
Kept alive hope

She said only if could drive
Get her license
So she could visit
He laughed
It was expensive
How could she afford
Lessons?
A car, insurance and gas?

Not to worry
He would look after her
After all,
Who else would?

Furious and scared
She stood her ground
She would not move
To the country
And called home
To speak with Daddy

But the answer was
No.
Too late now,
At 19, an adult,
Made your bed
Lie in it...
Besides,
A bad influence...
For her little sister.

Later in bed
Her tears brought
His words
Not to worry
He would look after her
After all,
Who else would?

She said she would not
Would not move
From the city
That he would have to
Marry her
If she were to follow...

He said he loved  her
And called her bluff
Bought her a ring
She saw the pretty sparkle
And thought
He does love me...
