A Toad, A Bird, And A Boy

A toad hopped on the roadside
He was as happy as can be;
Till a boy came upon him
and smashed it on his knee.

And seeing what he had done,
the boy knew it was time to run.
And so he ran wild in circles
coming upon a great big bird.

Said bird to the boy" I saw it all,
and tonight on your father I'll call".
And oh how the boy grew afraid!
Though he was tall, the bird small.

"Don't say a word you silly bird"
Moaned the boy as well he should.
"Say no more to my dad or me or
you too will be smashed on my knee"

Hearing this, the bird did scream.
Rant and raved and beat his wings.
How could the boy be so mean?
How could the boy be so cruel!

So off flew the silly old bird.
Away from the mean little boy.
Smiling the boy took his slingshot
and voila, no more bird!

So the story will end as it may be.
And there is a lesson to believe.
That boys will be boys all the time,
and animals victims always will be.

And if you are a silly bird or toad
and want to avoid a heavy load.
Then be wary of boys on roadsides
for they are an evil lot!
