Fabrics Obtained by Killing Or Causing Suffering

Fabrics obtained by suffering include leather, wool and silk.. as well as cotton when treated with insecicides and harvested with machines. Silkworms used by the silk industry are boiled alive or gassed alive inside their cocoons

PETA writes that the boiling of the cocoons causes them to begin unravelling so that workers can obtain the silk threads. Some 6,600 silkworms are killed to make just 1 kilogram of silk.
