Causes Of Iatrogenesis

President Bill Clinton delivered a speech about the over 1 million annual

deaths from iatrogenic (physician, nurse, therapist, drug etc actions)

A physician intern working 18 hours a day
in exhaustion could put a drug dosage decimal
point in the wrong place, causing
an overdose death. A bleary-eyed nurse could
not see properly. Perhaps a pharmacist
could not read a doctor's handwriting.
 Medical schools have
limited admissions to keep doctor fees high.
Many surgeons pre covid did unnecessary
operations to generate money.

Impatient obstetricians have often performed Caesarian

sections rather than wait for a natural birth.
Drug side effects and toxic drug interactions
can cause deaths. Critically ill people have died
standing around while clerks decide if they
have the insurance to be admitted.
The animal agriculture pushing hospital
food systems often cause food poisoning

Jonathan Kellerman has written
of intern exhaustion as a potential cause of
serious errors.
