AILANTHUS

She thought his leaves

common

and less fair

than the perfuming

lilacs bear

yet in another field

it was

century old ailanthus

fronds

which kept

the frost from

tomato plants by the

pond

Ailanthus which had

the cheer and will

to push up through

concrete sidewalk cracks

BAMBOO

The panda wants

bamboo for shoots

The flutist wants

his wood for flutes.

Bamboo himself wants only

to stretch and to

extend his roots.

AMBER ROSE

From ashes of roses

He made her hair

and bequeathed her mistle toes

From angels came her harmoknees

from yes's He made her sweet nose.

Her smile was a rainbow's baby

which had caught and dimpled her cheeks

Portals to infinity

are her firefl-eyes.

Plum hued is one cheek

the other tinted pumpkin

How appropriate you see

for Daddy's little plumpkin.

When God Om'd her birth

from  umber sunrise

with emeralds from His

embered fires

He made ambrosia

of this amber rose.

BEETLE BITTEN BEE BIBBED BLOOMS

The beetle bitten blooms

are now beautiful of lace

The bees have bibbed

all the nectar

and the emptied bloom chalice

will now hold new dew.

BY LOVE'S POWER

He was a great healer

He had taken on so

  many of others' burdens

that

His pain was intense

.. His body sick

His mind agony

   great

People's hearts wanted

to grow wings with

which to blanket

him.. and him to shield

as their great love

touched his own

by his love's return power

was he healed

BUTTERNUT AND BUTTERCUP

Held the dew

the concave buttercup

better than

the convex butternut

as listening ears

have healing

in their cups

with what

chalice'd joy

does the buttercup

hold

the liquid sunup

(to J Miller, to L Yost and to others)

DAFFODIL CHALICE

Father winter

.. he did fill

the hopeful cup of

wee daffodil

with the cold

sorbet

of chill

the icing of

snowspill.

But it melted

quickly..

and soon to

the touch of

the sun

the daffodil

did thrill.

**

Al Couch, a Biblical scholar and farmer, took Genesis literally..

that there were no brutal weather patterns on earth when it was

covered with trees.. it is humankind, not God, he thought, who have

created the violence of freezing.

DO FLOWERS CHASE BEES?

Do flowers chase bees?

Does Mother Earth bite?

Do rivers run backwards?

Do

butterflies get speeding tickets?  It is to the meditater at the

tree's base and not to the hunter that the gentle deer come.

***

(to bee attracting C Nevada who juggles 3 careers)

MAXWELL PERIWINKLE BLUE

Stars

above & their twinkles

are mirrored by

ground periwinkle

.. they do not sparkle

as much as J's smile

breaking through

her cheek crinkles

to JMB

TANGIBLE

The sun's ethereal

touch

made tangible

in the tangerine

DANDELION BLOOD

APPLE APOLOGIA

for they were appleless.

They wrote an apologia

for maxi apples which they sent

to fragrant Minneapolis..

from Jonathan Chapman Appleseed.

Soon they had

an applefall

APPLE CHAPEL .. PINE SHRINE

Is God's favorite chapel

sunlight dappled

trees of apple?

Her Ichi Ban shrine..

trees of pine?

Her beloved mosque

vine covered kiosks?

Her best synagogue

a cranberry bog?

Her holiest church

woods of birch

***

to God's beloved temples

.. N and E Kempel

CLOAK

Within each acorn

are infinite oaks

which can cover the world

with jadeleafed cloak.

APPLEFALL

As she was walking down the street

An apple fell right at her feet

Godplucked by Divine Hand

right out of the air

An apple with cheeks rosier

than pear's

Grace invisible

made form visible

Woven matter divisible

from God indivisible

APRIL’S  APRICOT APRONS

After the rain

April spread an apron

of apricot and apple blossoms..

and the sun's applause

became applesauce.

LEOGENESIS

Each moment

is a neogenesis

.. a theogenesis

.. a deogenesis

.. for the earth

a geogenesis

for his soul

a leogenesis

April Apron is to J Cardwell

ASTERS UNASTERISKED

Thou Shalt Not Kill.. it has no exceptions

.. it has no asterisks

though polygamous Solomon

born neath wealth's astras..

tried to amend it

with Ecclesiasters

God designed no disasters

for asses or asters

..  by sparks of

His sunlight asterisked as

they make room in the inn

for new neighbors...

an inn where none go astray
