For perhaps 2 years I attended Quaker meetings.
There is an hour of silence. If someone feels moved by Spirit
s/he makes a brief comment. Once I felt so moved, and repeated
the words of a song from a Johnny Appleseed movie:
'The Lord is good to me, and so I thank the Lord, for
giving me the things I need, the sun and the rain and the appleseed."
In keeping with the principle that we never know where our words go nor
how they are interpreted,
the hostess at whose home that week we met, said she felt she
and her financial wealth were personally attacked, and she left the
gathering.
